I may not be a bastard, nor former Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch but I can tell you one thing, winter is most definitely coming. So it’s time to prep your face for the changing of the seasons

It seems like only yesterday when we were talking about the hottest day of the year and daylight lasting well past 10pm. Now, roast dinners, cosy nights in and that damned ‘c-word‘ have been bandied around (even by yours truly).

So before it’s too late, here are my top four products needed this winter to keep your skin looking top notch:

1. Heavy on the Moisturiser

Bulldog Original Moisturiser

Calm summer air will soon be replaced by a sharp winter wind that saps moisture from the skin, best way around this is to prep your skin in the morning with a heavy moisturiser to trap moisture in.

I love Bulldog, it smells great and treats your skin so well (there’s a sensitive option too). This stuff dries quickly and doesn’t leave your face feeling sticky, an absolute bug bear of mine.

It’s not at the cheap end of moisturisers at £6.00 but I definitely think it’s worth the little extra.

2. Refresh that Face

Loreal Men Expert Hydra Power

I’ve loved Men Expert since it was released years ago! It’s a little more than your usual moisturiser but I cannot recommend Hydra Power Moisturiser enough; it’s important to replenish any moisture lost in the day but I’d say the 48-hour coverage is a little ambitious especially in the height of winter.

I use it in the evenings before bed or before heading out for the night – it’s top notch and smells DIVINE.

3. Shave Oil for the ‘Edges’

King of Shaves, Shave Oil

If you’re anything like me, a bearded gent with little need for shaving foam but still need something that’ll protect your skin when tidying up your beard, then I recommend this King of Shaves Shave Oil. Perfect for sensitive skin and you get a ton of uses out of it.

Apply to your hands and cover areas needed and don’t worry about getting it in your beard as it acts as a beard oil too! Killing two birds with one stone whilst protecting your skin from becoming ultra dry or raw in the cold air. Not only that but it’s perfect for travel at only 20ml.

4. It’s an Easy Scrubber

Garnier Skin Naturals

Alright, I get that a Grapefruit face wash isn’t the manliest thing on this list but I’ve slowly fallen for this fash wash. I’ve got pretty sensitive skin which can be prone to going really dry and doesn’t react well to anything too rough.

This gel scrub is the perfect consistency for me, with subtle beads and that ‘Fruit Energy’ (whatever that is) that leaves skin feeling energised – perfect for use during your morning shower!
